| Bachelor of Science |
One
of many routes for a four year course study leading to a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Cytotechnology
|
|
The
first three years are spent completing courses in the basic
sciences
of biology and chemistry as well as the general education
requirements of the University of North Dakota. Completion
of these three years with a minimum grade point average
of 2.80 is required for a favorable application to the final
year of clinical education.
|
With
acceptance into the final year of education (Path
401,402,403) the student receives intensive training in the
sub-disciplines
and techniques of cytotechnology. Upon successful completion
of the clinical program, the student is eligible to write the National
Registry Examination given by the American
Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If all
UND requirements have been completed, the student is granted
the degree of Bachelor
of Science in Cytotechnology.
|
Students
should note that acceptance into the fourth year professional
program is NOT automatic upon completion of their third year.
The number of spaces is limited to 8 students each year
and
there is competition for these spaces. Students are
accepted based on their academic achievement and their potential
for
success as a cytotechnologist.
