CT (ASCP)
Cytotechnologists are certified nationally by the
American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Students who have successfully completed the 12 month professional curriculum are eligible to sit for the national exam. UND CT students have a 96% pass rate on the first attempt at the board exams, with 100% passing on the second try.
Certification of Cytotechnologist, CT(ASCP)

To be eligible for this examination category, an applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university
  2. 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of biological science and 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of chemistry
  3. Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.
ASCP Certification Maintenance Program (36 Points/3 Years)

  • 1 point in safety
  • 2 points in area in which you are certified
  • Remaining points in area of specialty, management, education or other related laboratory areas of interest
