    BS degree in Cytotechnology
The University of North Dakota offers a 3+1 Bachelor of Science in Cytotechnology. Cytotechnologists are skilled individuals who identify and interpret abnormalities in cell samples using a microscope. After three years of health science based pre-cytotechnology and general education, students enter into the 1 year professional curriculum. Students spend two semesters at the University learning gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytopathology. Fall and spring semesters involve full-day integrated lecture, tutorial, and laboratory courses where students learn the principles of cytotechnology along with the microscopic skills needed for screening and diagnosing cell samples. The final summer semester is spent at a clinical affiliate site where skills and principles learned in the previous semesters are applied in a laboratory setting. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Board of Registry (ASCP) Certification Exam.
